Hauke Pane

Chairman

 

 

Hauke Pane, FICS, has been involved in shipping for more than 30 years. Following an apprenticeship as a Ship Mechanic, Nautical College and some time at sea, he went ashore in 1989. He worked as a Qualified Shipping Agent (Schifffahrtskaufmann) in the position as Chartering Manager for the renowned shipping group “Hamburg-Sued” until 1998 spending time in Hamburg and London.

In 1999, he set up and would later manage, the shipmanagement division of the major German trading and issuing house MPC. In 2007, Mr Pane set up Reederei Hamburger Lloyd which he is running as CEO / Managing Director since.  Hauke has been a Member of the Institute since 2004 and was made Fellow of the Institute in 2011. In 2015 Hauke Pane has been elected as Chairman of ICS German Branch.

Jan Bartels

Vice Chairman

 

 

Jan Bartels, MICS MSc, comes from a family with a long tradition in ship owning and shipbroking. After completing his apprenticeship at the German Shipping Group H. Schuldt, he spent five years in London and Miami working for various shipbroking houses.

In 1999 he became a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, whilst in 2002 he graduated from City University Business School, London, with a Master of Science in Shipping Trade and Finance. In the same year he joined the German Shipping Group Hansa Treuhand as Project Manager in the ship management division. He held various senior management positions within that group and in 2006 joined the holding company Hansa Treuhand Holding AG as Member of the Executive Board.

Today, as well as being partner in the ship management company Conmar Shipping GmbH & Co. KG, Jan Bartels is furthermore Managing Director of the shipbroking companies United Maritime Brokers GmbH & Co. KG and Shipping & Chartering GmbH & Co. KG.

In addition to being elected Vice Chairman of the ICS German Branch, Jan Bartels is Vice Chairman of the Association of Hamburg and Bremen Shipbrokers (VHBS)

Sabine Etheridge

Secretary

 

 

Sabine Etheridge is a trained language secretary and worked for many years in various Hamburg shipping companies, first as a secretary and later on as a shipping clerk in the liner agencies of several container services. Since 2005 she has been taking care of the ICS German Branch as its secretary.

She will happily answer any questions you might have concerning the ICS, its educational offers and exams or the professional membership.

Marc Buchholz

President

 

 

Marc Buchholz, FICS, started his career in shipping more than 20 years ago with the shipping group KG Fisser & v. Doornum GmbH & Co. in Hamburg. After completion of his shipping apprenticeship he started working in the ship operations department with Fisser & v. Doornum and later became Assistant to the Managing Partners.

After 10 years employment with this traditional shipping company, he held various positions as Fleet Manager/ Director in the ship management companies G.H.S. Global Hanseatic Shipping GmbH & Co., Quadrant Bereederungsges. mbH & Co. KG and DS Schiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG between 2004 and 2011. In 2012, Marc Buchholz set up the ship management company Conmar Shipping GmbH & Co. KG with other partners in which he is acting as Managing Partner. After passing his professional qualification exams in 1998 he became a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Marc Buchholz was promoted to Fellowship in 2002. He served as Chairman of the ICS German Branch between 2005 and 2015 and today holds the position of President of the German Branch.
